Learn to ride your motorbike with Roach Motorcycle Instructor, one of Northland’s most experienced rider training providers. No matter your skill level, there are lessons and motorcycle training options to get you ready for the motorcycle licence you need. Rochelle will give you much more than just tips on how to pass a test. She’ll teach you to ride safely and make sure you gain rider skills for life.

Basic Handling Skill Test
(Learner Licence practical)

30 minutes - $100
  • This is the assessment for the Learners Motorcycle licence and includes 4 x assessments: basic turn and stop, figure of eight, emergency stop.
  • The test is held in the Placemakers Whangarei car park

Hour lesson and
Basic Handling Skill Test

90 minutes - $200
  • Starting from scratch we’ll cover all the basics on motorcycling handling: stop, start, gears, braking, clutch, corners
  • Additional lessons may be required depending on your competency. This is suitable for those that have little to no riding experience.
  • The test is held in the Placemakers Whangarei car park

CBTA Restricted Licence assessment

2 hours - $170
  • Competence Restricted Assessment
  • The assessment starts at Pohe Island Road past the rugby club, in Whangarei
  • You will need to have your own LAMs approved motorcycle
  • Approximate 1 hour of riding urban and country riding
  • Must have Motorcycles learner licence (class 6)
  • Ride a current LAMs approved motorcycle with L plate attached. Have experience on the road
  • Wear long sleeves, pants, covered in shoes, suitable helmet and gloves. Allow two hours to complete

CBTA Full Licence assessment

60 minutes - $100
  • Competence Based Full licence assessment
  • The assessment starts at Barge Park show grounds off State Highway 14
  • You will need to have your own LAMs approved motorcycle
  • Approximately 30 minutes riding open rural roads
